Spring in Stanmer Park

Glorious weather today! I had a very enjoyable photo shoot in Shoreham at lunch time with the lovely, fascinating Ann O'Keife. In the evening I headed to Stanmer Park for a walk, just when the sun was low in the sky and cast a lovely light into the new budding leaves in the trees and shrubs.

Zebedee had the UNfortune of meeting a real bitch today... look at her: first she approached the jovial Mr. Zebedee looking perfectly friendly and normal. See? Zebedee glanced back at me as if to say "Hey, look: canines! Cool! Let's play!"

"Hi, Ms Pointer! How's it going?"

But suddenly this bitch starts to growl....

...and she lunges at Zed!

Bastard! Anyway, we left the stroppy bitches and continued our merry way exploring the woods in the springtime.

There is a certain type of tree that still has its dead leaves; there are a few of these trees here and there in the park. (Hopefully I will find out one day what type of tree this is.) This following photo looks like it could have been taken in the autumn rather than spring.

Back to buds.

When we drove back to town I noticed that the sun was just setting, so I drove to the seafront and took a few photos.

What a lovely day....! :-)

Stunning sunset

We went to the private view of Brighton and Hove camera club in the morning.

I don't have any photos in it this year as I didn't get round to putting any in. I'm going to have about 14 framed photos exhibited in an Open House in Newhaven starting from next weekend, and I'm also probably going to have some up on E-Kagen's wall soon, so I didn't make that much of an effort to make it in time for the camera club submissions.

Snap from Castle Hill in Newhaven.

In the evening we went for a walk in Seaford Head. The Seven Sisters were basking in the evening sun.

On the way back we saw this fabulous sunset over Newhaven, and Brighton in the distance.

At the beach

Another sunset at Newhaven beach with the doggie.

In the evening we had dinner at E-kagen (the best Japanese restaurant in Brighton). I'm going to take photos for their new menu possibly next week.

...and after that we had a drink or two at Northern Lights, a Finnish/Scandinavian bar in Brighton.

I will be taking proper pictures there some time next week.

Oh yeah, another sunset

...at Birling gap. Well, I haven't taken any sunset photos for ages! So here's one. Or two.

Shopping

Morning walk in Stanmer Park. Still no sign of other birds than magpies! Where are all the song birds?

I shopped for the first time in about six or ten months today. First I kind of got into it, but after about an hour and a half the novelty started to wear off. With the help of a pint of cider I managed to get through the last hour or so, and was happy at the end that I got almost all the things that I set out to buy. And got a glimpse of the sunset, as well.

Sunset in Newhaven

I saw this huge fluffy cloud in the sky on our way to Castle Hill, but by the time we got on top of the hill, it had drifted away and didn't look so impressive anymore.

The big fluffy dog we saw there looked as impressive as ever, though.

After Z had played with his friends for half an hour or so and the others had left for home, we went down on the beach to play some more and watch (and shoot) the sunset.
