Dogs in action
My action shot practise continues. This time with this incredible flying puppy.
We were at Birling Gap, and went to see the beach next.

Archie
We met a lovely labradoodle called Archie at Birling Gap this morning. We were going to go to Beachy Head, but stopped before that because I spotted this guy on the wire:
And here is Zebedee and Archie having a play down on the beach.
Archie was very good at playing with Zebedee, but of course he was the bigger and more dominant one. Here he is rolling Zeb like a cartwheel. Just because he can.
My happy little doggie... :)
Some other creatures we saw:
A wagtail
I don't know whether these are goats or sheep. They were in the nearby Sheep Center. So, err.. perhaps they are sheep.

Graduated ND filters
Zebedee has had a sore leg for almost two weeks now and when I asked about it at the vet's the other day, they said that it's most likely he has just pulled a muscle and that I should rest it for a few days... give him only a limited amount of exercise; no running around at all, just short walks on the lead. You gotta be kidding me. He is a six month old springer puppy! The vet joked that perhaps she should give Zebedee sedatives for the next week or so.
All that in mind, we went for a little walk to St. Ann's Well Gardens rather than the usual long walks in the Downs. The day has been beautiful and the light in the park was lovely.
I bought myself some cheapo ND grad filters the other day, and went to test them in Birling Gap this evening. We were a little late (because there were too many squirrels to chase in the park...) and as soon as we got to the beach, the sun sank below the horizon. It was a cloudless sky so any use of the ND grad filter for the sky would have been incredibly boring, which made me try out some of the fancy coloured grad filters. Here is one shot taken with a blue grad on top and purple at the bottom. (click to see it bigger)

Sunny day at Malling Down
Spent about three hours at Malling Down today. Was lovely!
The above photos are from the woods at the Lewes end of Malling Down. We met a very nice lad with a puppy and a human child and he showed me the way how to get to the top of the hill for the view over Lewes, and to the woods etc. Here's the view over Lewes: (Not that great, but I'll post it for the sake of it.)
And a closer-up of Lewes Castle:
What? Did you think you'd get away without seeing a picture of the puppy today? You... silly you...
..or sheep?
...or bunnies....?
In the evening we went to Birling Gap to see the sunset.

Last summer's day of 2008?
It was sooo warm, sunny and lovely today! About two weeks ago it felt like summer ended, but we got a glimpse of summer again for a day today. We went for a walk by the cliffs at Birling Gap; walked all the way to Beachy Head, had lunch and walked back.
I didn't take many photos today, but I did get a photo of a little birdy. After consulting the bird book, I think it's a sedge warbler.
And one silly photo.
When we got back to Birling Gap, the whole area was full of parked cars! Part of a nearby field had turned into a car park, as well. We were wondering what was going on, or was that amount of people normal for a sunny Saturday... I spotted a few people wearing t-shirts saying "The Downs in A Day 30th August 2008" so maybe it was some Downs walk finish or whatever. But when we went to have a look at the beach, we saw why so many people had parked their cars at Birling Gap. They were on the beach enjoying the summer day.
I've been wondering for a while whether I could take interesting landscape photos with the Lensbaby. These beach shots are slightly interesting, I think. Click on them to see larger versions.
